Yes, of course I'm finished...

Of course I finished Deathly Hallows! I was done early Sunday morning. I would have finished on Saturday night, but got to a certain point in the book and was so distressed that I couldn't read anymore for the night!!!

I'll post no spoilers on my blog tho!

I'll just say that JKR is a genius for spinning these 7 books. Characters and places that we have grown to love and cherish. Characters who have become our friends. Friends we celebrate with, friends we mourn with. Places we dream to visit, and adventures we wish we'd had. JKR... Pure genius.

Potter Party for Deathly Hallows

We really enjoyed our Potter Party that we went to on Friday. We were there from 5 pm until midnight.

There were fun skits, contests, classes, quidditch, haunted trail, bands, crafts, vendors, and so much more!

Here is Tate in his costume. We had lots of people taking pics of him, mostly from the backside. lol!

Another from the front with the Thestral.

GAH!

I cannot believe that by this time tomorrow the FINAL Harry Potter book will be resting upon my hands....

I can't decide if I'm uber excited or uber freaking!!!!!!!!!!!

After all these years we'll know the ending. In a way I just cannot WAIT, but in another I don't want to know. I don't want it to end!

Share your thoughts with me!

SPOILERS WILL BE DELETED and the spoilee burned at the stake.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Movie Review

Ok, so the movie was good, tho perhaps not my favorite. I try so hard not to compare the movies to the books, because there is just no way to...

I try to get over/look past what they've changed/left out

I try to just be absorbed in seeing what I have imagined all these many hours I have read/listened to the book.

*SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK*

Here we go:

Luna- PERFECT! OMG!!! Evannah Lynch is perfection. Like she walked out of my imagination. Clothes/mannerisms/ voice/everything!

Umbridge- evil. Pure evil. Love to hate her! Perhaps not as much as in the book, but Imelda Staunton did a great job. She doesn't exactly look the part, as Umbridge is supposed to resemble a wide, pale toad, but good nonetheless.

The Order of the Phoenix/#12 Grimmauld Place- The order wasn't explained all that well, we didn't really get to know any of those characters. It was ok... not much time spent @ #12. We meet Kreacher, but barely. No screaming Mrs Black portrait. Tonks trips once... Not much Lupin in this movie *sad*

Dumbledore's Army- These scenes were great. I enjoyed watching them learn. It was really magical. Ginny RAWKS!

WWW (aka Weasley's Wizard Wheezes)- good fun! They, again, didn't show lots of this, but I liked what I saw. Shown or mentioned: extendable ears (shown @ #12), wildfire whizbangs and the Skiving Snackbox ( fainting fancy, fever fudge, nosebleed nougat, puking pastilles) The Wildfire Whizbangs were great!!!!! LOVED that scene.

I missed seeing as much of McGonagall. I do love Dame Maggie... She's perfect. Not much Hagrid/Trelawny either. We did get to see Grawp. Um, he's bigly... and nicer than in the book. We also got to see the centaurs.

The Kiss- it was a very sweet scene. I thought it was well done. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they left much of the following scene in tact with R/H/Hr discussing it. It was great.

Bellatrix- the freak! I loved her! perfect freak! She doesnt have a huge role, but she did well with it.

Speaking of not huge roles- SNAPE. I love snape. If he turns out evil, well, I'll eat a skivving snackbox. I love to hear Alan Rickman speak.... love love love............ Young Snape/James/Sirius/Remus was interesting. Very very quick scene... too fast to take it all in, but...Tho not in the pensive, I was glad they did see fit to keep this in the film.

The thestrals were deliciously creepy! loved em!

Emma, Dan, and Rupert- All are great. I know some people dont enjoy all three of them, but I do. To me they ARE Hermione, Harry, and Ron. Rupert is so funny as Ron. Wonderful. Emma as a fussy Hermione- love her too. Dan- well, tho many people have complained about him over the years, he has grown so much as an actor. I think he is excellent. The scene in the ministry where Voldemort takes over his body is so well done (a bit longish, but Dan does well with it). Kudos to Dan!

speaking of the Ministry- i loved the looks of it. Very impressive. Huge, marbley, all the fireplaces for the Floo network, even Interdepartmental Memos flying around the lift.

The whole scene @ the Minstry/Department of Mysteries felt very quick. I guess b/c in the book they fight in different rooms, all the doors, running this way and that.... it was well done, dont get me wrong, but rushed. The DD/Voldy scene was particularly impressive. A feast for the eyes... again, quite speedy, but visually stimulating.

Now to Sirius' death........... in the book it was so tragic. So, I dunno, tugged at your heart. Harry screaming, and wanting to go after him in the veil. They showed it all very quickly. When Sirius was hit with the AK curse from Bella, he just got a weird look on his face and dissolved into the veil. Strange.......... This might be my largest complaint of the movie. It wasnt well done.

Yeah, that and Neville finding the Room of Requirement, Filtch following/watching them there, and Umbridge breaking down the door, oh, and her questioning all students with veritaserum, ending up with Cho being the one who ratted the DA out...... hmm... Ok, so I have lots of complaints. Oh, and no St. Mungos...

Overall tho, it was a very magical film. I did enjoy it a lot. It didn't seem nearly 2.5 hrs long

Candyfloss

Isn't Candyfloss a great word??? A word we don't use here in the states. While "cotton candy" (or as Tate called it as a 3 yr old "Poppin Candy") is an ok name, candyfloss is such fun.

The pinks in this kit reminded me of 'candyfloss', so thats how this kit got its name. Hope you like!

Happy Independence Day, America!

Wishing you all a wonderful 4th of July... God Bless the USA!!

And for all of my international friends, I hope you have a wonderful day too!
